Industrial Access Hatches

Durable and watertight industrial access hatches made of stainless steel V2A/V4A (AISI 304/316) for underground spaces in industrial and infrastructure facilities. Equipped with brass triangular lock, gas strut, neoprene gasket and anti-slip ribbed surface. Corrosion, moisture and load resistant (B125-F900). Available in multi-section versions with assisted opening and paving finish.

Industrial access hatches provide practical and safe access to underground spaces in industrial, commercial and infrastructure facilities. Robust construction and refined details ensure durability, tightness and ease of use.

Each hatch consists of a 240 mm high mounting frame and a cover made of stainless steel chequered plate, hinged along the longer side. The hatch is resistant to gases and splash water, making it perfect for high-humidity and tightness-demanding environments.

Standard B&K GROUP hatches include:

  • Brass triangular locking mechanism
  • Stainless steel gas strut
  • Anti-drop safety device
  • Corrosion-resistant stainless steel 304 (optional 316) hinges, replaceable and stable
  • Neoprene gasket protecting against odours and water
  • Earthing terminals
  • Anti-slip ribbed plate surface, suitable for paving or filling (resin, asphalt)
  • Bolt securing or triangular key lock

Hatches comply with EN 124 and are available in load classes: B125 (125 kN), D400, E600 up to F900 (900 kN), suitable for heavy traffic areas such as roads, yards and ports.

Optional features:

  • Multi-section versions with removable central post
  • Hydraulic or electric opening assist
  • Frame installation in precast concrete housing
  • Cover prepared for block paving or anti-slip infill
  • Cylinder lock option (lock not included)

B&K GROUP hatches combine premium stainless steel fabrication, durability and safety, making them indispensable for demanding construction and industrial projects.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between V2A and V4A hatches?

V2A (1.4301 / AISI 304) is standard stainless steel suitable for most hatches in production halls, warehouses and breweries. V4A (1.4404 / AISI 316L) contains molybdenum and resists chlorine, salts and organic acids, making it ideal for pools, dairies, pharmaceutical plants and aggressive chemical environments.

Which industrial hatches are recommended for breweries?

Breweries require (1) tightness to prevent odour backflow, (2) chemical resistance to organic acids, alcohol and caustic cleaning, (3) HACCP hygiene. We recommend V4A hatches with EPDM/silicone gaskets, D400 load class (forklift traffic) and R12 anti-slip surface. Typical sizes: 600×600 or 800×800 mm depending on shaft diameter.

Are the hatches watertight?

Standard models offer IP54-IP67 water tightness with gasket; optional gas-tight versions with labyrinth seal. IP68 fully submersible hatches are available for pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Tightness class is selected according to HACCP/IFS or project documentation.

What sizes are available?

Standard square sizes: 400×400, 500×500, 600×600, 800×800, 1000×1000 mm. Round diameters: 500, 600, 800, 1000 mm. Custom shapes (e.g. oval) available on request. Maximum single cover: 1500×1500 mm; larger areas divided into 2-4 sections.

Do the hatches have opening security?

Yes, three options: (1) patent locks opened with service key (public areas), (2) automatic latches lockable with padlock (restricted facilities), (3) hydraulic interlocks with sensors for BMS integration. Pharmaceutical versions available with service seals.

How to install a hatch in an existing floor?

Installation procedure: (1) diamond saw cut with 10-15 mm tolerance, (2) bond frame with high-strength resin or fast-setting concrete, (3) seal connection to existing shaft/drainage. 24-hour quick-install system available for facilities requiring minimal downtime.
