Public Facilities

Hospitals, schools, shopping malls and office buildings require aesthetic and safe floor drains. B&K GROUP supplies low-profile stainless steel drainage systems in brushed or polished finish. Drain covers can be lockable for user safety. The systems are durable, easy to clean and built for high-traffic environments.

Frequently asked questions

Which floor drains are best for public facilities?

Public buildings such as pools, stations, hospitals and schools use stainless steel drains for hygiene, durability and easy cleaning. The right solution depends on traffic load and floor type — complete drainage systems are tailored to each project.

Which stainless steel grade for pool and public drains?

In environments with chlorine or salt, such as pools, we recommend V4A (1.4404 / AISI 316L). Its molybdenum content provides superior pitting resistance compared with standard V2A (1.4301 / AISI 304) used in less aggressive conditions.

Can public floor drains handle heavy traffic loads?

Yes. Floor drains and grates are selected in load classes B125 to F900, suitable for pedestrian areas as well as vehicle zones. The correct class ensures the grate and channel remain stable under load.

Do stainless steel drains meet hygiene standards?

Smooth stainless steel surfaces are easy to clean and inhibit bacterial growth, essential in high-traffic facilities. Our solutions support HACCP requirements, hold PZH approval and EHEDG membership.

What channel types are used in public spaces?

Most common are slot channels with an 8 mm narrow gap or box channels with screw-down anti-slip covers for safety and hygiene. Selection and configuration form part of complete drainage systems designed for each facility.

Are stainless steel drains made to measure?

Yes. V2A and V4A stainless steel products are fabricated with TIG/MIG welding, custom-sized to the project. Each material batch can include a 3.1 mill certificate according to EN 10204 confirming origin and steel parameters.
