Stainless steel slot drains are hygienic drainage systems for facilities with strict sanitary requirements. The minimalist design without grates meets rigorous standards of the food, pharmaceutical and technology industries as well as pools and wellness areas.

How do slot drains differ from standard drainage channels?

Slot drains feature a narrow inlet (8-30 mm) instead of an open grate — water enters through the slot while the floor remains fully trafficable for forklifts, pallets and wheels. Traditional grated channels offer higher capacity but interrupt the flat floor surface. Slot drains are chosen where aesthetics and safe traffic are priorities.

Which slot drains are suitable for car washes?

For car washes we recommend 20-25 mm slot width (high water and sand flow), load class D400 (cars) or E600 (trucks), V4A material (road salt and detergent resistance). Combine with receiving drains (German: Bodenablauf) DN 200 for rapid outflow. See also our car wash solutions.

What slot widths are available?

Standard widths: 8 mm (labs, small objects), 12 mm (typical halls), 15-20 mm (most popular), 25-30 mm (wet zones with high flow). Narrower slots are safer for footwear and wheels but reduce capacity. For workwear areas (heels, laces) choose 8-12 mm. For transport halls choose 15-25 mm.

Are slot drains easy to clean?

Yes — the removable slot provides full access. Cleaning procedure: (1) remove slot (spring latch or screws), (2) flush channel with high-pressure water, (3) clean receiving drain (German: Ablauf), (4) reinstall slot. Time: 5-10 min per 5 m section. Frequency: monthly in standard halls, weekly in food industry.

What load class for slot drains?

EN 1433 defines 6 classes: A15-F900. Typical halls with forklifts up to 5 t — D400 or E600. Pedestrian warehouses — A15-B125. Heavy truck areas — F900. Select class according to maximum point load per wheel (often underestimated). It is safer to choose one class higher — the cost difference is marginal compared to replacement after deformation.

Do the channels have built-in fall?

Yes — we offer channels with factory-built 0.5 %, 1.0 % or 1.5 % fall. This eliminates installation errors common on site. The fall is achieved by gradual change in channel depth — the trough interior is profiled while edges remain level. Standard for new food and pharmaceutical installations.
